Clinton Fearon and Naya Rockers release "Come With Us", the second single from the upcoming “Higher Education” album in support of The Alpha School of Music.
Clinton Fearon and Naya Records, in association with Floki Studios, are pleased to share their new single from the upcoming album project connecting pioneers of Jamaican popular music with New Orleans R&B, third wave ska and next generation dub and roots artists.
Originally a multi-instrumentalist for Studio One and Lee Perry recording sessions, Clinton Fearon joined legendary roots outfit The Gladiators at the age of 19.
In the 80s, Clinton Fearon became a relentless touring force. First with members of the Gladiators renamed as The Defenders and later as Clinton Fearon & The Boogie Brown Band, Fearon recorded over 12 albums (earning 'Album of the Year' honours in 2014) and crisscrossed continents while becoming a staple on the live reggae scene from the USA to Canada to Europe.
"Come With Us" is the second single on the upcoming album recorded at Floki Studio in Iceland and backed by Naya Rockers, a 10-piece band including guitarist Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith (picked by Rolling Stone as one of the world’s greatest guitarists of all time) members of The Skatalites, John Brown’s Body and Slightly Stoopid, Higher Education was mixed at Bob Marley’s legendary Tuff Gong Studio by Grammy-winning engineer/producer Stephen Stewart (Tuff Gong, Third World).
“When Nathan approached us, the Alpha link was the real impetus,” said Floki Studio’s Wade Koeman. “Yes, we absolutely love this style of music. And we share the same love for presenting to the world great music with ultra high recording and mixing standards. But the benefit to Alpha and the opportunity to create a project with long term benefits - to be truly impactful - that was the biggest factor.”
Alpha has been called a “dream factory” (NPR/USA) for “legendary musicians” (Jamaica Gleaner) who “helped release the spirit of one of the most musical islands in the world” (The Telegraph/UK). Alpha’s place in Jamaica’s music pantheon can be heard on Alpha Boys School Radio, a 24/7 streaming station that plays music only recorded in whole or in part by Alpha graduates.
