The Sisters of Mercy of Jamaica have been leaders in music education since 1892 when Sr Maria de Chantal Higgins founded the Alpha drum and fife corps. From marching bands to jazz ensembles to sound system performance and, more recently, music recording and production, the Sisters of Mercy of Jamaica represent an active group of international women who are at the forefront of music education.
